Transcribing Videos
For class 790, a complete lesson plan with video instruction on instructing graduate assistants on transcribing videos. Start with the instructor guide.
WAWL Student Training
For my IT899 class I found a real world client with a real training and learning issue to come up with a solution as an instructional designer. My client was the William Allen White Library to develop student training for them on a Canvas course. While some training had been developed it was very clear from the beginning that the waters were deeper than predicted. I have included the following documents to go over my process during this time. Also an overview of the course has been included to see what was done during the time.
Our Place After School EDU
For class 820, a complete educational website was required. In addition to completing the requirement, this also serves as a training fulfillment for Our Place After School Care teachers. Example video, certificate, and log are shown here.

Note to Self Work
For this 810 audio mixing project, I used the AI tool Mureka to lay down some tracks for me with the piano that were upbeat due to the poem that I picked to go along with it, "Note to Self Worth" by Beau Sia. After that, I downloaded the track and opened up Adobe Audition to put in the instrumental track, and then I recorded and mixed it with the voiceover of the poem. As you can hear from the original track to the finalized version, it is much different; this is because, due to my musical ear, I decided to splice and cut the music in such a way that would fit the parts of the poem more than the original track that Mureka gave me. I toned the music to fit the orchestration of the poem better and added a bass line with the help of Audition. Finally, I faded the last parts of the music to linger and mixed the track volumes to be just right for listening ears. The finalized track tells a story of hope and encouragement that all can share. ZMB Designs
For this 810 logo project, I used the image and creative tool Canva to create my logo. (I did this a while ago when I first made this portfolio website, but I refreshed the graphics and background.) Here's how I did that. I started with the logo size on Canva to fit the logo box for my website and business cards. I initially decided to use my full name in case more ZBs are out there. This would differentiate me from ZMB. I added the word designs because the website is all about my designs and what they have turned into. Under that, I have my statement "Purposeful, Creative, Design," meaning that I put purpose into my creative designs. Then, I wanted an image that reflected both my master's library science and instructional design, so at first, I chose a computer, but that did not quite fit, so I ended up with what you see here: an open book with a pencil coming out of it.

Charli Photos
For this 810 photo editing project, I chose to edit two photos of my childhood dog, Charli. In the first photo, she is sitting in a box. While the original image is cute, I decided to reimagine it creatively. First, I cloned her face and enlarged it to bring the subject closer and give it more focus. Then, I used masking tools to separate the foreground from the background. After isolating the foreground, I removed the original background and replaced it with a generated field image. I applied filters including Color Pop, Warmth, and Faded to enhance the image's mood. Still unsatisfied with the overall brightness and contrast, I made further adjustments to both settings. Finally, I merged all the layers I had created to produce the final image.

For the second photo, I focused on Charli in her doghouse—her favorite outdoor space. I again separated the foreground from the background, removed the original background, and replaced it with a new, generated one. To enhance the photo further, I applied Warmth and Color Pop filters and added “In my happy place” text to complete the look.

Storyboarding
For this 810 storyboard creation project, I decided to refresh the video from ESU SCALA, which needed to be done anyway since we have new officers. I worked on the video last year, and here are the results:
What is ESU SCALA? (2024 Version)
For this year, I decided to use Powtoon instead, giving it a facelift in some areas. To help me with this, I started by using the script writing generator that Powtoon has and put in the prompt, "SCALA promotional video for the ESU SCALA student chapter of the American Library Association." It did not do a bad job generating a script. At the same time, it was totally out of my realm, like getting people to be in the ESU library and then hold up a banner with the SCALA logo on it; it did have some good ideas to incorporate into the video like promoting the cool features of SCALA and what we do for students should they participate.
With that, I started conceptualizing a storyboard to help with Powtoon and with Adobe Express to convert all of the slides into documents so that they would be visual to see the why behind my ideas.

Script Writing
For this 810 scriptwriting project, I took my storyboards and converted them into a script. Since all of my dialogue was on my storyboards, that part was easy. The hardest part was describing the different backgrounds and foregrounds. I did research, with the help of the internet and Claude AI, on how to write a professional script and to check the formatting of my script after I was done writing it. After that, it was done!

Join SCALA
For this 810 video editing project, I converted my storyboards and script into a fully-fledged video with the help of Powtoon and my co-officers at SCALA for intros. I then made background music with Mureka, an AI music tool. Finally, I put this all together in Adobe Premiere to adjust the sound levels of everything to get it just right. Then, I uploaded the video to YouTube and made the captions. After that, it was done!

Simulation
During this I learned a lot about coding in CoSpaces and what not to do out of trial and error. Still, not all of the components of my VR space are working due to the long processing of coding and figuring out camera angles and paths through the space. I believe that if I had more time and a bit more expertise in the area this project would have not taken as long and been more complete. Due to this I would like to eventually finish coding all of the sources and finish the work in this space at some point or get back to it.
